Action from Lahainaluna’s 50-49 win over two-time defending State Division 2 basketball champion St. Francis at the 2018 Lahainaluna Winter Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center. The Lunas led for most of the game, but St. Francis hung around and rallied to take their first lead of the game 49-48 on an offensive rebound putback and one 3-pt play by Nalu Kanalulu. However, the Lunas took the lead back for good when Hunter Higdon rolled to the hoop and scored on a nifty drive and dish in the lane by John Flores. The Lunas were led by Reece Pascua’s 19 points, followed by John Flores with 13. The Saints were led by the Brothers Ng, with Kordel Ng scoring 20 and reigning Gatorade State Player of the Year Kameron Ng scored 15. Fortunately for the Lunas, Kameron Ng was coming off an ankle injury that caused him to miss several games and he seemed to have an off-night. Healthy, Ng is one of the most dynamic, dominant players in the state.
