Finally, a close and exciting game at the Invitational! In a battle between 2 evenly-matched teams with contrasting styles, the Lunas prevailed in Overtime 70-64 over St. Louis of the ILH. The hero of the night was "I.T" Isaiah Tanner who came off the bench and led the Lunas with 20 points, including a high-arching 3-pointer with a guy in his face to tie the game at 52-52 in the closing seconds of the 4th quarter, and 8 points in overtime, including a spectacular 4-point play that led to the foul out of Junior Wily. Tanner scored 13 of his 20 points after replacing Reece Pascua, who fouled out with 5:01 left in the 4th quarter. Also coming in clutch was Siale Hafoka. Siale's steal and coast-to-coast drive for a layup sparked the Lunas comeback in the 4th quarter. He scored 7of his 14 points in overtime, including a coast-to-coast drive that resulted in an incredulous And1 layup after being fouled on the drive by All-State linebacker Noa Purcell. Purcell, who played a brilliant game with 19 points despite having 4 fouls for most of the second half, finally fouled out on that drive. Reece Pascua, who was whistled for 2 quick fouls in the first quarter while having the unenviable task of guarding Purcell, had 12 points, along with Iverson Turno who had 12 points also. Hafoka hit 8-9 free throws. St. Louis' Tracy Taba had 15 points. Great to see St. Louis #2 Liloa Kapiko, who played football and basketball for the Lunas for a semester his freshman year.
