The Lahaina Chiefs came from behind then hung on for a 28-22 win over Wailuku in a battle between the top two teams in the midget division. Wailuku took an 8-0 lead before Lahaina responded with a play-action pass from QB #6 Eki Kahunanui to #14. The kick was good, tying it up at 8-8. Wailuku scored a touchdown on a big 4th down pass play with 2.9 seconds left in the first half when two Lahaina defenders fell down trying to intercept the pass, enabling the Wailuku receiver to make a great catch and run for the TD untouched, making it 16-8 Wailuku at halftime. Second half was all Lahaina as Kahunanui as he scored three more TD's to put Lahaina up 28-16. Wailuku battled back with another big pass play to make it 28-22 but Lahaina was able to hang on for the win
