On assignment for the Maui News, who reserved a golf cart for me to use. For the early morning rounds, I decided not to use the cart, instead parking my truck in the Canoe Beach cemetery and crossing the highway to shoot from the 2nd tee , the 3rd green and the 4th tee. I was able to get most of the Lahainaluna boys and girls golfers except for Matt Ramelb. At noon, I left the golf course and returned to the Lahaina Civic Center to shoot the MIL Tennis awards ceremony. When that was done, I rushed back to Kaanapali, parking at Roy’s and getting myself that golf cart. I was nervous at first – I have never driven a golf cart by myself in my entire life – but once I got the hang of it, I think I can never go back to my old ways of walking the course! How convenient! I caught up to the leaders on the 7th hole and proceeded to get shots of both the boys and girls’ leaders for the Maui News. Since there was no way to predict who would actually win, I had to get shots of at least the Top 5 boys and girls. I caught up with the lead of the final four groups up at the 9th hole, then got some more shots on the 14th and 15th. Great thing about having a cart was I had a place to carry my little backpack cooler with water and Diet Pepsi. And some shade. Congrats to Lahainaluna’s Matt Ramelb, who finished 2nd in the MIL!
