In the Maui County Women's Summer League Basketball final, it was a battle between current Lunas Town N Kon3 and Lunas' alumni on Westside. It was a competitive back-and-forth game throughout. Town N Kon3 seemed to be in control with a 37-30 lead with 8:45 left in the game. The veteran Westside team stepped up their defense and hit some clutch shots and outscored Town N Kon3 8-0 to take a 38-37 lead on a Maiki Tihada 3-pointer from the top of the key with 5:07 left in the game. Town N Kon3 answered back with a corner three by Braeanna Estabillo to regain the lead 38-37 with 4:03 left. Tied 40-40 with under 3 minutes left, Town N Kon3 held the ball for the final shot. A scramble for a loose ball forced Susi Namoa to dive for the ball, banging heads with Milika Taufa and opening a gash over her left eye. Taken out of the game, Town N Kon3 worked the final possession without Susi on the floor. Town N Kon3 managed to work the clock down to under 10 seconds for the final shot. But Westside's Maiki Tihada anticipated the pass and intercepted the ball, raced down court and laid in a left-handed layup despite having Estabillo all over her. A 3/4 court heave by Keiko Aotaki grazed the front of the rim but didn't go in as time expired. Westside won 42-40.
