The Lahainaluna varsity and junior varsity team spent bye week Saturday with a clean Max session - each athlete tried to max out in the clean. Something a little different for me - shooting clean lifts in a compact space with multiple stations all going at the same time, finding good angles and positions for taking photos without getting in the way or distracting the players from the task at hand - was quite challenging. In post-production, I used a different editing technique in Lightroom - heavily emphasizing the clarity and texture sliders to try to convey the grittiness, intensity and sweat of the weight room. I primarily utilized the Nikon Z9 mirrorless at between 10-15 fps - it essentially shoots silent so that the normal sound of the mechanical shutter would not be audible and thus, minimizing the distraction I may pose as a photographer in the weight room. Started with the 105mm f/1.4 but immediately realized I needed to go wider to capture the weights. Maybe next time I will use a 24mm f/1.4.
