Action from the Lady Lunas' 45-46 loss to Maui High. The game was as close as it could get in the first half, ending in 7-7 tie after the first quarter, then 20-20 at the half. Maui High began to pull away in the third and well into the fourth before the Lunas defense pulled them back into the game. Down 37-42 with 3:26 left in the game, the Lunas went on a 6-0 run to take a 43-42 lead on Aira Baguyo’s free throws with 2:03 left. But two questionable fouls called on the Lunas’ best player, Abby Akamine down the stretch caused her to foul out, leaving the young, inexperienced Lunas to try to find a way to win the game. Maui High hit their free throws and held on for the 46-45 win. Lunas fall to 2-2 and 3rd place in the MIL with the loss.
