After finishing work, I was able to catch the ending of the Lunas' baseball game against King Kekaulike. Lo and behold, I get there and the Lunas are up 6-0 in the top of the 6th inning and James Smythe is in the midst of pitching a NO-HITTER (Shhhhhhh! Don't jinx it! BACHI!) Of course, I jinx him as I arrive at the ballpark. As soon as I start shooting, BAMMM an error on a throw to first base and a run scores. There goes the shutout. But the no-hitter remains. Fortunately, the Lunas get out of the inning without further damage as freshman catcher Medeiros guns down the runner at third. Lunas threaten to score in the bottom of the 6th, but leave two on base. Top of the 7th, I'm starting to think about what I gotta do to get the celebratory shots of the players if James gets the no-no. Am I gonna get a Don Larsen-Yogi Berra moment? Unfortunately, the King K batter laces the first pitch of the inning into right field. Ekolu Mathias charges, fields it clean and fires a laser throw to first, but Umpire calls 'em safe! C'mon, he had a no-hitter going! Could've given him the benefit of the doubt on that one, but its Umpire Jaime at 1st, Mr. Integrity lol. No-no gone. Darn it. I'm bad luck lol. After loading the bases with a hit batsman and a walk, Smythe settles down and finishes the game. Lunas win their second in a row, 6-2. That is the stat that matters. Final game of the series is tomorrow (Saturday) at 3:30pm. Lunas looking good!
