Since it's been a while since I shot a football game, I wanted to do a little dry run before flying to the Big Island to shoot Lahainaluna's football game against Hilo. So I paid my $8 general admission and took some shots at a preseason football game between Maui High and visiting Nanakuli at War Memorial Stadium. I wanted to try my "new" used telephoto lens - a Nikon 200-400mm f/4. Since f/4 lenses usually don't fare too well during nighttime sports, I paired it with the Nikon Z9 and cranked the up the ISO to 10,000. The results were ok. The subjects don't quite pop out . . .a little soft past 300mm. but otherwise usuable. Gonna leave the 200-400 home and take the 300mm f/2.8 to Hilo.
