The JV Lunas lost their MIL season opener to King Kekaulike 24-18. The Lunas' 1st half was marred by sloppy play (false starts/lining up in neutral zone/missed tackles/mishearing coaches and running a fake punt deep in one's own territory/squib kickoff returned for a touchdown, etc). Combining the poor play with an aggressive King Kekaulike team executing at a high level, the Lunas found themselves down 3-21 at halftime. Although a late rally fell short as the Lunas ran out of time, the one positive takeaway from this game is that the Lunas played better and more inspired in the second half. Hopefully this will carry over into the games to follow the rest of the season.
